Do you find trendy diets a fad or do they have real health benefits?

antioxidant benefits
marnefirstinfantry asked:

1. POMEGRANATE: If you’re going to have a martini, at least make it a pomegranate one. This fall fruit has higher antioxidant activity than red wine and green tea.

2. KIWIFRUIT: Don’t judge this fruit by its cover: Under that bristly brown peel you’ll find a bright green star bursting with antioxidants and full of fiber.

3. BARLEY: When some whole grains, such as wheat and oats, are processed, they lose their fiber content. Not so with barley, which is full of soluble beta-glucan fiber in its whole kernel or refined flour form.

What is your favorite health food that you eat at least once, maybe twice, a day…fruits, vegetable, cereal, drink, etc…?

Do you supplement your eating habits with vitamins/minerals?

I try to eat a variety of fruits, grains, nuts and vegetables in as natural a way as possible. I get my antioxidants from foods – like grape juice instead of wine since I don’t need the alcohol.

i like green veggies!!love them too..

Well, ask yourself this, if the book/ newspaper/article says that this, so and so is good for you, ..

    a) are you going to listen to them and, go get it and eat it ..
b)or, do you just think that they are plain silly and stupid, have nothng better to do..

Well, my choice would be to follow my own heart..eat in moderation. use your common sense! Dont believe in anythng you read.

Sometimes, i feel that they are just out to confuse you. I mean they will say that xxx is good for you, then later they will say that xxx is bad for you.. It’s crazy. I’ve read alot abt such thngs.

First off – I always supplement with complex vitamins and minerals. The thoughts that this is 100% of ____ -the daily requirement is a joke. We’re not sure exactly how much each individual needs due to the vast differences in our systems and in our general health. So get a good multi vitamin. It will bolster your system and help to keep you healthy enough to fight off whatever bug is coming your way.

My favorite health food is whole wheat pasta. Great taste, fills you up and is very healthy, a great fiber source. Second,
I find yougurt is a good milk substitute and it almost seems like it is a dessert.

Finally, a combo of dried apricots/cranberries/blueberries mixed with nuts and added to my yougurt. Heavenly

Some diet fads offer 1 or 2 things that are really good – you just have to look at it very carefully.

Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! I drink kefir ( a fermented milk product) daily but that’s because I like the taste. I’m skeptical about all the stuff being ‘sold’ with health benefits attached. As a nation, we’re obese, our food keeps getting modified to make it more ‘healthy’ and products keep popping up to save our lives. Yet we’re getting fatter and fatter. I could use this modified margarine that has plant something-or-others in it all my life and still die of heart disease.
Exercise, on the other hand, is powerful but doesn’t sell well on the grocery shelves so it’s not going to promise to make you live forever – just makes you feel good.
