what would happen if for a week no food was consumed only tea?
neurok asked:
i was wondering what would the benefits vs the risk be if i were to fast for a week and consume only tea as of now what i do is when i wake up i drink black tea to get me going during the day at work i drink chamomile tea or green tea or Uncaria tomentosa ie .. cats claw or chamomile tea or tilo tea i take turns with the tea’s would that pose any health risk ?what about benefits i figure since they contain antioxidants fasting for a week and drinking tea would help clean your system wouldnt it?

Your body doesn’t need anything to clean it most of the time… Thats what the liver is for. However, things like twinkies never leave our system and you need a colonoscopy (spelling?) to remove that.
Fasting should only be done for faith based or doctor ordered reasons. Drink your tea by all means, but eat at least 1200 cals of food a day.
Good luck.
If you want to do a liquid fast, try the Master Cleanse diet, also known as the lemonade diet. It has all the nutrients that your body will need, but no fiber at all. Tea is very acidic and has a lot of caffeine. Without something to balance it out, you’re risking stomach problems by ingesting nothing but tea for an entire week.
I highly suggest researching fasts. . .
Below is a link that has some very good information with peronsal information included:
Benefits: you may lose weight. well, you will lose weight becuase you arent eating. However, the risks far outweigh this one benefit.
Risks: slowed metabolism, gain all the weight back when you start eating again (probably gain even more weight), fatigue, hard time concentrating, difficulty staying awake, malnutrition, etc, etc, etc.
The body needs food to keep itself alive. You wont die by not eating for a week, but your body will fight like the dickens to get you to eat if you deny it food (hence the weight gain later). Its a natural defense mechanism that keeps us alive. Ignoring it presents very large health risks. Just eat healthier, and your body will change. I know thats easier said than done, but think of it this way: what more important investment could there be than in YOU?
