Why is it that a lot of the things you enjoy to eat and drink are bad for you?
Polo asked:
According to so-called experts that like to put a dampener on everything. And why do they keep moving the goalposts? They used to say that drinking too much tea was not a good idea, but now it goes… “Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water. Water is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so its got two things going for it. There are definite potential health benefits from the polyphenols in terms of reducing the risk of diseases such heart disease and cancers” Is it at all possible that they have also got it wrong with things like chips, greasy breakfasts, alcohol…..dare i go on? (Wishful thinking, I suppose!)

the resion why its bad for us is because its not taxed and the goverment lose cash
I think the key is to enjoy as many foods as possible, but slowly and in moderation. That way your diet is well-balanced and interesting, you feel and look better, and you’re not compromising your health.
Greasy food feels good because of the sugar and salt contents, these in excess are pretty bead for you however, Dr Atkins says however that provided you cut carbs (pasta, bread etc), from your diet you can eat as much greasy protein (burgers sausages etc), as you like.
and a glass of red wine a day is supposed to be good for you 2.
It’s like that, they make a study and prove some nutritional fact that we believe for years, then other people discover that it was the other way round.
Because they want to control your life!
Really, though, they make generic statements like “lots of tea is bad for you” because they assume that you’re putting sugar in your tea, and lots of sugar increases your chances of getting tooth decay, yadda yadda yadda. If you’re supposed to have 8 glasses of water a day, and you have 2 glasses of tea, 4 of orange juice, and two water, that’s fine. You’re still hydrating yourself.
As for greasy/fatty breakfasts, um, no, they’re still bad for you. But they’re sooooo tasty.
I think everything is good for you - the key to to only eat it in moderation.
Thats what they say anyway. However, I’m not very good at this “moderation” thing they keep going on about.
“One Quarter Pounder with cheese and a large fries to go - hold the salad”
Nothing is really bad for you if taken in moderation, it is when we have too much of something that the problems begin.
Water is still the best thing you can drink, your body needs to replace the water it is using all the time. Herbal teas are good for you, but water is still the best.
There is lots of information on the benefits of drinking water and ways to lower your cholesteral, as well as other things that are really useful to read on how diet can improve your health on the following website, hope it helps.
Survival. Same reason pregnant women crave food. Salty foods are the killer because naturally salt is hard to come by. Your body needs a certian amount so when coming across it your taste encourages to take advantage of this. As for meat again, it is not supposed to be available in abundance. Chips and greasy food I’d say its stretching to think they got that one wrong. If you eat high amounts your blood is saturated with cholestorol andyour body will also store a high percentage of the unnaturally large amounts of saturated fat present. This will end in a heart attack by which time you will be obese and will put enough strain on your heart as to make a small event into a potentially fatal one. From personal experience green tea is great for you. Seaweed is another one that doesn’t have any enemies. Kelp tablets are handy. But remember salt and saturated fat should be taken in moderation. As a rule, natural food is the best. The more synthetic, the more Chemicals, e-numbers, colourants, saturated fat and salt in it. If your not sure on something stick with organic food.
